~~~~~Contest~~~~~
Fri Jul 8, 2005, 1:26 PM
=======================================
:worship: :worship: Finally my contest has come out, and I hope you're ready. Prizes will be worth it folks, so listen up. :worship: :worship:
You have to go out, and take a picture depicting a certain emotion. Any emotion you want, happiness, sadness, ecstacy, blah, blah, blah. You get the point. After doing this, you spice it up (or not) and submit it to the contest. Make sure to either include the emotion in the title, picture, or description so I know what emotion you are trying to portray! Then, pray, dance, do whatever you want to get your picture to win.
Speaking of that, if you don't want to enter the contest (but do want to be a judge) please message me saying that you'd like to be a judge and I will decide who will be judging (besides myself). :gallery:
Read the rules people.
:pointr: Rules :!:
:bulletred: To enter make sure to tell 1 other person about this contest (post on their userpage) and message me their name, so I can check it out. (For every submission you have to tell one more person)
:bulletred: No more than three submissions per person. Link them on a reply to this journal.
:bulletred: People, seasons are not emotions. :disbelief:
:bulletred: Be sure to link back to this journal in the description of your deviation.
:bulletred: No deviations that are in your gallery already may be submitted. This must be a new deviation.
:bulletred: No selective editing! Contrast/Saturation etc. changes may be done, this is not a photo-manipulation contest! :rage: (If you have a question about this rule please message me)
:bulletred: No More Submissions After: August 1st.
:bulletred: Winner will be announced August 10th.
:bulletred: Have fun! :drunk:
:pointr: Prizes :dollarus: :dollarus:
:bulletgreen: First Prize: A 3 month subscription to dA (or a print of equal value)
:bulletgreen: Second Prize: A 2 month subscription to dA (or a print of equal value)
:bulletgreen: Third Prize: A 1 month subscription to dA (or a print of equal value)
:bulletgreen: Honorable Mentions (2): Will be put in my journal and a link to their gallery in my signature for the next 2 weeks after the contest is over (including 4 of their favorite thumbnails and a small description for both made by themselves, about them)
Question: Suppose the winner doesn't want a subscription extension or a print- would you consider purchasing him/her a prints account? I have a friend who has been wanting a prints account because it comes with an automatic three-month subscription. :lol: I might tell her about this contest. :)
:icondiamondie:
Sadly, a Prints account costs about as much as a 12-month subscription and the first prize in this contest is just a three-month subscription, which is over 10 dollars cheaper.
This sounds like a really good contest otherwise, but the part where it's stated that every participant must post about the contest on someone else's page is highly questionable, as that sort of activity is considered spamming and forbidden in the DevianART policy.
:iconsqueakingshoeless:
Indeed, I caught both of those points myself.
I could see it not being spam really. I've linked my friend to a few other contests, just in case she decided that she wanted to try them out. As long as it's a person you already know and who might actually be interested, it might work on the grounds that it isn't your own contest to begin with.
:shrug: Hopefully it doesn't cause him any trouble.
:iconthehollywood:
Hopefully not, because I helped him come up with teh idea. It's basically just to get other people (prefferable photographers) to know about the contest. Like, if you know a photographer, tell them, because I'm sure they'd want to win a prize.
I'm sure most people on this site know at least on photographer each, and it won't be hard. If he/I get any warnings about this, or a person that does it gets a warning, we will immediatly take that rule down.
:iconthehollywood:
Thank you for bringing that to attention.
It is not meant as spamming, just as telling your friends about the contest, but I understand. Thank you.
:iconsqueakingshoeless:
Yeah, I understood that much. Being a photographer myself, I know tons of them and I'm pretty sure we make up a large segment if not the majority of the deviantArt population. It's understandable, but you have to be careful with encouraging people to advertise things that aren't their's on others' pages. Most people wouldn't mind, but you never know who might. :)
Good luck with your contest. :aww:
:iconthehollywood:
Thanks, will you enter? Or care to be a judge?
:iconsqueakingshoeless:
I might be a judge if I have the time. I've judged a few contests offsite, and according to my fellow judges and other deviants, I make a good art critic. I doubt I'll enter because my subscription lasts until February, so I don't need the extension.
Yeah, perhaps I'll be a judge. If you want me to be, that is. :)
:iconaikawarazuai:
but how do we submit our pictures when we're ready, though?
--
according to authority, you should constantly be on the bright side. oh no, it's against the rule to frown, even if it is healthy sometimes. fuck them, cry all you want.
:icondandemonium:
I am submitting the following entry. I am notifying the user painisenjoyment of the contest on his page.
